Winners and losers of the crisis in Latvia

In the course of the consultancy, the European Centre team explores how poverty and income inequality have changed in Latvia during the financial and economic crisis also drawing on comparison with other EU Member States. In particular, we aim to identify the specific social groups which were most affected by the crisis in order to raise awareness among policy makers.


Data mapping for the Joint Programming Initiative 'More Years, Better Lives'

The JPI data mapping project seeks to inform the development of the Strategic Research Agenda of the European Union. The JPI ‘More Years, Better Lives’ is an initiative of Member States to enhance better coordination between European and national research programmes.


Evaluating care across borders

This project explored five aspects of cross-border health care: provisions with regard to the continuing quality of health professionals; treatment pathways; the content and scope of medical records; medical prescribing; and the reporting of quality in both health and long-term care. It also looked at three areas where there is existing cross-border activity, namely between hospitals in border areas, in the field of telemedicine, and with patients travelling across border to seek dental treatment.


A handbook to access health care data for cross-country comparisons of efficiency and quality

The objective of EuroREACH is to provide tools to health care researchers to better enable them to access well-organised health care data that allow for comparability at European level. These tools are made available in the form of a web-based handbook containing a toolbox of guidance to national and international health information systems, which are one of the major tangible outcomes of the project.
