General Assembly Meeting 2021

19 - 20 October 2021

47th Annual Meeting of the Board of Directors and
31th NLO-Assembly Meeting

The 47th General Assembly Meeting of the European Centre focuses on intergovernmental cooperation in social policy and research. It will showcase our activities that are underpinning the endeavors of international strategies, e.g. regarding the UN Agenda 2030 or the WHO Decade on Healthy Ageing, by providing evidence and good practice, by bringing public and civic stakeholders together and by comparing policies across jurisdictions.

The General Assembly Meeting is taking place as an online event (zoom) on 19 and 20 October 2021. As physical distancing will most probably still be recommended by October 2021, and as there might still be travel restrictions, it is of advantage for international delegates to participate via videoconferencing tools. Sessions have therefore been once more adapted to a videoconference setting with more breaks and an ample distribution across the two days. We produce presentations as webcasts that will be made accessible online and can be watched beforehand or during the timeslots indicated in the agenda. You can download the agenda here.

The purpose of the GAM is as always to present our achievements and results of recent activities. We will gather highlights of social policy-making from member states to combat negative consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. Building on an exchange about national experiences and findings we should identify future-oriented strategies for social policy and research.

We have planned sessions on the following key topics:

  • The state of social policy and research in the time of COVID-19 and beyond
  • International & intergovernmental social and health policies in the decade 2020-2030
  • Underpinning the WHO Decade on Healthy Ageing
  • Addressing SDG 10: Reducing inequalities with special focus on children and youth
  • Addressing SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth
  • Leaving no one behind - Bridge building activities and the UN Agenda 2030
  • Delivering on the European Pillar of Social Rights

We shall keep you informed about the final format and send you the links to individual sessions in due time.

In the meantime, please register for participation in the General Assembly Meeting here.
