DESCRIPTION

Even though the number of current residents in general medicine and paediatrics may be sufficient to cover the demand in primary care in the Vienna region, many residents seem to opt for alternative career paths, potentially leading to shortages in care coverage in the primary care sector in the future. This research report provides insights into the motivation, expectations and preferences of residents and practititioners in paediatrics as well as residents in general medicine in order to understand what drives their career choices, and how to make the primary care sector a more attractive career option.
