The European Centre for Social Welfare Policy and Research held its 52nd Annual Meeting of the Board of Directors and 36th National Liaison Officials (NLO) Assembly Meeting on 14 and 15 October 2026 at the United Nations Office at Vienna, bringing together Board Members, National Liaison Officials, and the Centre’s team.

The European Centre for Social Welfare Policy and Research held its 51^st General Assembly Meeting (GAM) on 22 and 23 October 2025 at the United Nations Office at Vienna, bringing together Board Members, National Liaison Officials (NLOs), and experts from across Europe and beyond.

The European Centre for Social Welfare Policy and Research celebrated its 50^th anniversary to commemorate the contributions made to social policy developments across the member states of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). The events were jointly implemented by the European Centre and its Board of Directors, especially the Austrian Federal Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection (BMSGPK) and comprised the Ceremonial Act on 25 September 2024, followed by a two-days-lasting Invitational Conference on ‘The future of social welfare policy and research’ in the United Nations Offices at Vienna on 26-27 September 2024.

The General Assembly Meeting 2019 of the European Centre was dedicated to its contributions in achieving the UN SDGs. Challenges, research results and policy recommendations were presented to the Board of Directors, National Liaison Officials and observers.

On the occasion of its 40th anniversary, the European Centre organises a Symposium on 'The Future of Welfare in a Global Europe', in Vienna on 15 September.
