Participants of the seventh BBinar discussed challenges of long-term care systems in the Western Balkans based on findings of recent research conducted by the Red Cross of Serbia, namely the study Long-term care of persons with disabilities and of older persons in the Western Balkans. It focussed on the current state of long-term care in the Western Balkans and the expectations of persons in need of care and their informal carers. Participants discussed how the accessibility and the quality of services can be improved, which policies are needed to develop long-term care systems in the Western Balkans and which initiatives have proven to be sustainable.
