DESCRIPTION

Our article, recently published in The Journals of Gerontology: Series B, tracks caregiving trajectories across subsequent cohorts of women and men in Europe. We find a decrease in the prevalence of informal caregiving for men in cohorts born more recently, whereas cohort trajectories for women are mostly stable. The gender gap in informal caregiving evolved differently across different care regimes in Europe with a widening gap observed among later-born cohorts in the Continental cluster, and an overall narrowing gender care gap in the Nordic cluster. The article is based on research carried out as part of the FutureGEN project. Read the article (open access) here.
