In this policy brief, the authors discuss the social protection of transnationally mobile construction workers in terms of rules, structures, and practices. They focus primarily on the challenges faced by posted construction workers as a result of their cross-border work experiences in accessing social protection during posting and the potential implications of a transnationally mobile work trajectory on their lives. The policy brief draws on insights gathered through biographical interviews with posted workers and a stakeholders focus group with representatives of enforcement agencies and social partners conducted in Austria in the frame of the SMUG project.
