CITATION

Fuchs, M. (2019). Non-coverage by health insurance in Austria – empirical findings on prevalence and causes, Policy Brief 2019/13. Vienna: European Centre.

DESCRIPTION

This Policy Brief presents empirical findings from a follow-up-study in 2015/17 funded by the Main Association of Austrian Social Insurance Institutions (first study in 2003 funded by the Federal Ministries for Health and Social Affairs). It aimed at the quantitative and qualitative assessement of people not covered by health insurance in Austria. The analysis focuses on an estimation of the number of people concerned, their socio-demographic characteristics, causes for non-coverage and their coping behaviour in case of illness.
