The European Union Drugs Agency (EUDA) has launched the project ‘Socioeconomic Determinants of the Drug Phenomenon’. At the meeting ‘Socioeconomic determinants of drug use, drug and labour policies’, which took place in Lisbon (9-10 September 2024), a focus was put on the interplay of labour and drug policies. Mapping the interaction between labour and drug policies for unemployed persons who use drugs in Europe, identifying data sources, policies, key stakeholders, and defining areas for future development is key within the project.
By offering services to the EUDA, the European Centre aims to provide evidence-based insights into the interplay between Active Labour Market Policy (ALMP) and drug as well as health policies implemented in the EU Member States. We aim at providing guidance and services to EUDA on their pathway to improve understanding of how these policies can better be linked. This should support the Member States in addressing emerging issues in monitoring, preparedness, and competence development for better policy interventions. We thus assist the Agency in providing services that anticipate new challenges in the drug sector, alert stakeholders to emerging risks and drug-related threats, respond to identified needs, and support the sharing of knowledge and best practices among professionals, policymakers, and citizens.
