The Policy Department on Citizens' Rights and Constitutional Affairs of the European Parliament has requested our colleague, Dr. Magdi Birtha to prepare a briefing on 'The Strategy for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities 2021-2030: Achievements and perspectives'. As the European Commission is expected to propose new initiatives for the remaining time of the Strategy until 2030, it is timely to take stock on what has been achieved and where persistent gaps remain as well as to propose new actions to move forward with the implementation of the Strategy.
The briefing was presented on 2 December 2024 in Brussels at the Annual Workshop on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, organised by the European Parliament's Committee on Petitions. The event was attended by MEPs from across the political spectrum, the European Ombudsman, representatives of the European Commission, the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights, the European Disability Forum and other stakeholders.
The briefing is available here.
