SPARK4B+ is a multi-disciplinary and multi-method Horizon Europe project that will explore and demonstrate how alternative socio-economic paradigms and governance frameworks can contribute to biodiversity-positive and just futures. The four-year project brings together researchers, policymakers, practitioners and communities across eight European countries and Columbia to map and assess alternatives, understand the conditions that enable them and co-create actionable pathways for transformative change. The project will combine scientific research, participatory approaches, modelling and innovative tools to test what works in different contexts through six real world demonstration sites and will turn them into actionable pathways that can be taken up by policymakers, businesses and communities. In doing so, SPARK4B+ seeks to deepen our understanding how alternative ways of organising economies, societies and governance can support a future that works for biodiversity and equity, and how they can advance wider systemic change.
