Ride-hailing apps such as Uber, Bolt and the apps of local providers (40100, 31300) collect a lot of data about drivers and often save it long after the drivers have stopped driving for the company. Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), drivers have the right to know what personal data a company has collected about them and for what purpose. Drivers also have the right to receive a copy of the data collected about them. To inform drivers about their rights and to support them in making data access requests, the European Centre for Welfare Policy and Social Research, together with the trade unions vida and vidaflex, is organising a consultation event for taxi drivers who use intermediary apps.
Event details:
Date: 17 June 2024, 9:00-12:00
Location: Gewerkschaft vida, Johann-Böhm-Platz 1, 1020 Vienna, EG, Seminarraum „Grete Rehor“
Languages: German, English, Turkish
The event is part of the EU-funded research project ‘GDPoweR’, in which the European Centre, together with partner organisations in other EU countries, is researching what data platform companies collect about workers and how the collection and use of this data can be regulated.
