Policy brief: Addressing loneliness and social isolation among older people in Europe

This Policy Brief looks at loneliness and social isolation as factors influencing the wellbeing and inclusion of older people. It presents results on the prevalence of loneliness and social isolation and provides an overview of existing interventions across Europe to prevent and reduce loneliness and social isolation of older population in general and during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Policy Brief was drafted based on the study ‘Social isolation and loneliness among older people in Europe – Evidence, policies and interventions’ prepared by the European Centre for Social Welfare Policy and Research for the Institute for the Elderly and Social Services of Spain.
