In this Jour Fixe, Günter Stummvoll discussed the social policy implications of interdisciplinary collaboration between law enforcement agencies and social support services. The response to drug use and to signs of social disorder in public places are vocational domains in both policing and social work. The idea of involving the police in social policies may at first sound doubtful and odd. However, he argued that carefully embedding the idea of cross-sectional collaboration in vocational education and training systems in the police and in schools of social work will be beneficial to vulnerable groups in society.
