The newly published Handbook on Health Literacy in Childhood and Adolescence discusses the current state of research on health literacy (in German). Rahel Kahlert co-authored the chapter on interdisciplinary research perspectives on the health literacy of children stemming from the informal network WISHES ‘Working together Internationally on Social Development and Health in Every School and Family’. The network brings together an interdisciplinary exchange of researchers in the health literacy field across Europe. The authors recognize children and young people as active citizens within health literacy, and suggest including the perspective of children as social actors in health literacy research.
