New project: Developing a conceptual model to address gender in long-term care

DATE

Improved gender equality has the potential to enhance outcomes for long-term care (e.g. if a greater number of men are able to take up care both as formal and informal carers) and vice-versa (e.g. if gender inequalities in frailty in old-age that still disfavour women can be addressed). With this motto in mind, the European Centre will carry out a project commissioned by WHO Europe to develop and test a gender framework for long-term care policies in the WHO Europe region. The gender framework thus developed will be first piloted and validated in Romania, in order to confirm its relevance to steer policy reforms in long-term care. The project will have an expected duration of 5 months and more information can be found here.
