Social Work and Policing focuses on the professional relationship between police and social work. Both the police and social work organisations are concerned with public order, but they differ significantly in organisational structures, responsibilities and work methods. Hence, vulnerable people such as substance users and homeless persons are sometimes caught between law enforcement and social welfare policies. In response to this tension, this new curriculum for a joint vocational training for social workers and police integrates approaches of community policing and social support services.
