Michael Fuchs & Tamara Premrov: Non-take-up of minimum income benefits in Austria

Jour Fixe

DESCRIPTION

Michael Fuchs and Tamara Premrov investigated whether the reform 2010/11 which replaced monetary social assistance by minimum income benefit was successful in terms of the facilitated access to the benefit. For the analysis, they used the tax-/benefit microsimulation model EUROMOD/SORESI based on EU-SILC data. The present study complements the existing literature in two ways: first, it offers an insight into the development of the target efficiency of benefits of last resort in Austria. Second, it explores the relevance of different measures embedded in the reform.

The Jour Fixe takes place once per month (every second Tuesday in the month) with a pre-announced agenda (duration: 90 min max, e.g. 12.00-13.30). This is the second session of the monthly Jour Fixe of the European Centre which took place on 11 February 2020.
