The session enabled an interactive and open exchange of experience, good practice, challenges and opportunities around learning from evaluations. It evolved around three key questions: Which learning formats exist in the context of evaluations? When and at which point of the evaluation process do we best learn from evaluations? Who learns from evaluations?
The session started with a presentation on how learning from evaluations occurs in the context of Austrian Development Cooperation, more specifically within the Austrian Development Agency (ADA). It continued with the sharing of experience and findings from peers – the Swiss Development Cooperation, GIZ, and Brot für die Welt – gathered at a recent working session on ‘Learning from Evaluation’ during the Annual Conference of DeGEval, the Evaluation Society, in Dresden in mid-September 2018 and co-organized by ADA. Meeting participants then discussed selected key issues in buzz groups. The session ended with a closing discussion in the plenum.
