DESCRIPTION

This policy brief summarises the current state of scientific knowledge about the problems caused by alcohol consumption and about ways and means to reduce these. The brief begins with a short description of the size and the extent of socio-economic and health-related problems, then follow a review of the opportunities to reduce these as well as an analysis of the difficulties in implementing harm reduction policies. The policy brief concludes with a call for active involvement of the health and social welfare sector.
