Workplace innovation as a form of social innovation in the workplace

SPEAKER

Peter Oeij, The Netherlands Organisation of Applied Research (The Netherlands)

DESCRIPTION

Research among 51 companies across Europe dealt with the question if and how work organisations develop and implement workplace innovation (WPI). WPI is innovation by applying human talents and organisational renewal. The purpose of WPI is to enhance not only productivity and performance, but also the quality of work of employees. This presentation discussed the findings of the study, and the implications it may have for other work organisations. In the (interactive) discussion it seeks to link with the broader notion of social innovation: what is ‘social’ about WPI and in what way does it address ‘social issues’?
