Minimum income benefits, inequalities & LTC

Research in the time of COVID-19

Under the heading “Research in the time of Covid-19” we publish a range of blogs connecting our evidence, thoughts, new ideas, hopes and fears to the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic for society, social research, labour markets, social and health policies.

Colleagues Michael Fuchs, Selma Kadi, Ricardo Rodrigues and Cassandra Simmons presented findings from their research at the European Centre at the ESPAnet Austria conference held at the University of Graz from 27-28 September. Their presentations covered a number of topics, including the non-take up of minimum income benefits in Austria, ideals of care in care-mix dyads in Austria, the impact of COVID-19 on informal caregivers’ wellbeing, gendered cohort trajectories of informal care across Europe, and working conditions of migrant and native long-term care workers in Austria versus Sweden. The ESPAnet Austria conference gathers social policy researchers from across Austria every year to engage in a number of important policy relevant topics.
