In this webinar, different approaches to supporting competences for the care of older migrants were presented. We discussed the transfer of skills for diversity-sensitive care based on the course Transcultural medicine and diversity care at the Meidcal University Vienna and the Erasmus+-funded DI.S.C.O.P.M.B. project. We also launched the e-learning course of the DI.S.C.O.P.M.B. project with this meeting. This was a German language event.

A new study commissioned by the European Labour Authority (ELA) and implemented by the European Centre in collaboration with Milieu Consulting SRL was launched at an event organized by ELA and the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights in Brussels on the 20 March 2025 in the premises of the European Economic and Social Committee as well as online. 

In this session, Patricia Yocie Hierofani and Micheline van Riemsdijk (Uppsala University) and Rieke van Dijk (University of Applied Sciences Amsterdam) will discuss collaboration with informal carers of older migrants.

Over the past year, the European Centre organised five international Seminars to launch and discuss the book A Research Agenda for Ageing and Social Policy, edited by Kai Leichsenring and Alexandre Sidorenko. To conclude this series, we wanted to examine the changing national and international contexts and potential next steps with authors and other stakeholders for research on ageing.

The ninth BBinar focused on discussing how high emigration rates from the Western Balkans, particularly among young and skilled workers, combined with the other unfavourable demographic trends, have turned the region with once characterised with abundance of available workforce into a region facing significant labour shortages.
